Our Story

Founded in 1988 and registered under the Societies Registration Act 1860 (Reg. No. 257/88), ORRC was established under the visionary leadership of Mr. D.S. Prasad Rao with approval from the Ministry of Home Affairs(FCRA), Government of India.

Our mission is to ascertain Gramaswaraj (self-governance) and endow socio-economic and political empowerment of vulnerable sections in the rural and tribal areas of Anakapalli and Alluri Sitarama Raju Districts, Andhra Pradesh.

Over 4 decades, we have built a strong foundation of community-driven development, working directly with Adivasi communities to strengthen local institutions, protect their rights, and promote sustainable livelihoods while preserving their cultural identity.

Ongoing Programmes

ORRC is establishing computer labs in 22 colleges at Eluru and Visakhapatnam districts with ONGC
P4 poverty eradication program in Gudupalle Mandal of kuppam constituency, Andhra Pradesh through ORRC which is supported by TVS company.
Establishment of vision centers under community eye health programmes in Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Alluri districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Promoting and strengthening of peoples organizations like persons with disabilities (PWD), farmer clubs, thrifts and credit groups in Visakhapatnam, Anakapalle, Alluri districts of Andhra Pradesh.
Promoting and Strengthening of Maathota (Horticulture) in 1000 acres of tribal land by involving 1000 tribal community farmers of G.K Veedhi & Chintapalli Mandals of Alluri District supported by NABARD.
Working with people pertaining to rural and tribal area of Anakapalli, Alluri Sitaramaraju and Visakhapatnam District on community Eye Health and Person with disabled (PWD) through 6 vision centers.
Dignity and peaceful life of grandparents: support a Grand Parent Programme covering 5000 grandparents.
Formation & Networking of FPOS
Implementing livelihood intervention through value addition of adda leaves, broom sticks, honey, millets etc.
Promotion and strengthening and network of FPO's. Value addition and Marketing.
Human Resource Development through skill development.
Community eye health and health activities. Education - Enrollment, Main streaming.
Strengthening MACTS Society which one registered under 1995 Cooperative act.
Activity - Related to forest, land and water promotion of water sanitation and hygiene activities through children and women groups. Promotion and strengthening People's organizations like FPO's PWD Groups and volunteer organizations.
Promotion of Skill Development through Government Institutions like MSME etc.

Landmarks of ORRC

  • Enable the formation of 100 women groups (Mahila sangams)
  • Formed 412 village sangas with membership of 8500 people
  • Built cadre with 830 tribal youth to raise their voices against denial of rights
  • 3000 children acquire primary education through 50 centers
  • 420 vulnerable families have sustained economically by taking adda leave plate stitching as prime or alternative livelihood
  • Economical empowerment to 4000 women through 6 Macts
  • Irrigation facility to 240 acres in Chittayyapalem, Sitampeta Gorrla palem and Agraharam villages of Bucheyyapeta during the 1992-1995 under the desiltation of tanks program. To implement this, EZE /GPC West Germany has provided 8 Lakhs with the community contributions
  • Initiated and played key & leading role in campaigns against eradication of arrack and liquor and on promotion of literacy with thousands of people involvement at district level
  • Build 3000 cadre and sensitized youth & women on literacy, thrift, environment protection and Gramaswarajyam
  • Initiated Panchayat, Mandal and divisional level sarpanches forum for implementation of PESA act in its true spirit
  • Provide livelihood security to 120 vulnerable families through support for income generation
  • Facilitated people's initiatives to avail basic amenities such as drinking water, education transportation and health through appropriate support
  • Facilitated in formation of grain banks in 146 villages to provide food security during the hunger period and provide support of 9 Lakhs rupees for grain procurement
  • Formed Mandal and divisional level CBOs with Primitive Tribal Groups
  • Constructed of four Rural Haats in Rural and Tribal area of Visakhapatnam dist improves the facilities of rural markets
  • Established Human Resource Development center at Chodavaram for providing skill and capacity building in different areas
  • Maintained Physiotherapy unit to provide services to children, elderly and person with disabilities
  • Production and marketing of Girijan products and Drusti products (Phenol candle, surf powder etc) through Disabled People Organization (DPO) and Blind People Organization (BPO)
  • Worked in COVID Period
  • Worked with Migrant families in Brick Industries
